The School Day and Family Information

http://www.bourtonmeadow.co.uk/homeworkThe school day starts at 8.50am and finishes at 3.30pm. The classroom doors open at 8.40am to ensure that children are ready for registration. The academy operates wrap around care from 7:30am until 6pm - please see the 'Activ8tors' information or email activ8tors@bourtonmeadow.co.uk. We also offer a range of after-school clubs running from 3:30pm until 4:30pm - please contact the office for more information.

All children have a morning break and Key Stage 1 children enjoy an afternoon break also. Lunch is for an hour and is staggered to for different key stages. A morning snack of fruit and/or vegetables is provided for children until they reach the end of Year 2. From Year 3, children are asked to bring in their own healthy morning snack.

There are three assemblies every week with the whole school joining together every Monday. On a Wednesday, we celebrate in the children's achievements where chilren are awarded Happy Grams, and certificates and medals from things they have achieved outside of school. Every Friday morning there are class assemblies, to which parents are invited. Please see the diary dates for when your child's class assembly might be. Children also regularly meet as a whole year group which has a PHSEE focus and in their 'houses'.

Every class has a broad and balanced curriculum that includes:

  *   Core subjects of Maths and English including Phonics (KS1) /Reading skills (KS2) taught daily

  *   Science taught for between 1 and 2 hours per week

  *   Art, History and Geography taught through a theme and enquiry based learning

  *   The following are taught for an hour a week by specialist teachers:

     *   Games

     *   PE

     *   Spanish

     *   ICT
