English as an additional language (EAL)

Bourton Meadow Academy

At Bourton Meadow Academy, we are proud to offer support and guidance for children with English as an additional language (EAL).

By providing our staff with the necessary training, we ensure these children are fully integrated within the school community, and we enable them to access the entire curriculum alongside their peers.

Our school offers additional support with reading, writing, and oral communication, through the use of a carefully managed ‘buddy system’, in which older pupils are paired with children with English as an additional language to help them develop oracy and literacy skills. These children work together at designated times of the week, using guidance and resources from The Bell Foundation – a charity which aims to overcome exclusion through language education.
